We’re excited to be diving deeper into the world of experimental & prog rock with bass & effects legend Juan Alderete‘s project Vato Negro. The group has featured a revolving cast of collaborators building on Juan’s masterful grooves and inventive sound manipulation, including Deantoni Parks, Adrian Terrazas-Gonzalez and other members of The Mars Volta group, as well as Money Mark (Beastie Boys), Jon Theodore (Queens of The Stone Age), Manny Nieto and others.
Vato Negro’s BUMPERS series, featuring Juan & drummer Matt Sherrod (who you may know from his work with Beck, Macy Gray, NOFX) is currently releasing monthly on all streaming platforms, with a “deluxe” expanded physical edition expected later in the year.
